Alabama Public Television wants to congratulate our 10 2024 Fund for Teacher Fellows!Tyler Jones, Theater, Thompson Middle SchoolEnroll in the Broadway Teachers Workshop in New York City to learn innovative practices in musical theatre through workshops/masterclasses with leading Broadway performers and producers to help students feel comfortable performing on stage and then apply this confidence to all aspects of their lives.Rebecca McDaniel, 3rd Grade, Rainbow Elementary SchoolJoin a Global Exploration for Educators Organization expedition to Japan, learning about the history, culture and community shared by an influx of students, to continue to build a welcoming community and facilitate students’ efforts to assist new peers/English Language Learners.Christina Miskelly, Reading Specialist, Shelby Elementary SchoolJoin an EcoExperts expedition to Belize, taking in the ecosystems, artisan crafts and Mayan history, to enhance the "From Little Seeds Grow Mighty Trees" unit and incorporate the belief that each person has the power to leave their legacy in this world and that it is our responsibility to be defenders for those who cannot protect themselves, such as animals and their habitats.

Tolkien, Roald Dahl, William Wordsworth, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and J.K. Rowling) to create an engaging unit that will motivate students to further develop their writing craft.Fund for Teachers awards professional development grants to teachers to explore their own learning during the summer.
Since 2012, Fund for Teachers has awarded professional development grants to 143 Alabama teachers.

By trusting teachers to design unique fellowships, Fund for Teachers grants validate teachers' professionalism and leadership, as well. Since 2001, Fund for Teachers has invested $22 million in nearly 6,000 teachers, transforming grants into growth for teachers and their students."
Program Information:
Fund for Teachers provides educators, possessing a broad vision of what it means to teach and learn, the resources needed to pursue self-designed professional learning experiences. FFT grants are used for an unlimited variety of projects; all designed to create enhanced learning environments for teachers, their students and their school communities. We believe that supporting teachers' active participation in their own professional growth, positively impacts student learning and achievement.
Eligibility Criteria:
-
Employed full-time as a PreK-12th grade teacher and spends at least 50% of their work week in direct instruction with students in a classroom or classroom-like setting;

Intends to continue teaching in the consecutive school year; and
-
Has at least three years teaching experience as a PreK-12th grade teacher.
Individuals may apply for up to $5,000 and teams may apply for up to $10,000 (all team members must meet the eligibility criteria). Upon award, Fellows will receive 90 percent of their grant award, the remaining 10 percent to be reimbursed upon completion of post-fellowship requirements.
