We had a amazing time at the TechEd Conference.

Technology Inspired -- Career Ready! --Project Summary:
This summer our team “Business Matters” traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana to attend the Microsoft TechEd Conference. Our purpose in attending this conference was to enhance the curriculum we have been teaching in our Microsoft IT Academy at our school and to learn how to use the very latest software and products Microsoft has to offer. Even though we have been offering credentialing opportunities to our students, we have not been as successful as we would like. Our goal was to talk with the Microsoft Credentialing Experts and learn what credential was most respected in Business and Industry. By far there is no better place to see or learn the latest software and hardware developments than from the leader in technology Microsoft! There were over 10,000 IT professionals present at this conference! TechEd brought in Microsoft employees to share their expertise in hands on workshops and vendors from all over the United States. We also received countless opportunities to build relationships with a community of Microsoft experts and tech industry peers. We spent one-on-one time with credentialing masters who shared many tips and strategies for helping our students pass the credentialing exams. 
On June 24, we flew to Victoria, British Columbia to attend the EdMedia Conference. We were very intrigued as we were planning this trip to learn that educators from over 70 countries would be in attendance at this conference and we could not wait to learn how others were teaching their students our curriculum. An entire day was devoted to round table discussions which provided us with many opportunities to interact with other educators. We shared project ideas, free online software, email addresses, and our passion for teaching business education. The speakers for this conference were very diverse. Our favorite was Keynote Speaker, Sydney Matrix, from Queen’s University in Canada. Her presentation was entitled “Your Digital Impact: Online Professional Development for the Time-starved. She explained the importance of completing a digital audit of oneself, claiming your domains, designing a digital nameplate, and so much more! She reminded us that we have the opportunity to network with people all across the world today and we must embrace the importance social media has on academia.
